Worker breaks open baobab fruit

Extracting the pulp from a baobab fruit is a laborious process, which starts off with cracking open the outer shell and gouging out the insides. Workers, such as this man in Benin, must wear rubber gloves during the process because the baobab's exterior is like fiberglass and causes itchiness when it comes in contact with skin.
