Catch-22 002

Penn State professor of comparative literature Eric Hayot welcomed guests to a marathon reading of the Joseph Heller novel 'Catch-22' outside Pattee-Paterno library on Sept. 13. Hayot organized the event that welcomed faculty, staff, students and alumni to come forward and read the Heller novel aloud through to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14. Heller began writing the classic story while teaching at Penn State in the early 1950's, and the phrase 'Catch 22' has become a staple of the American vocabulary. The public is welcome to visit through the evening and listen to a few pages of 'Catch 22.'
