Preserving Pennsylvania's Plants 003

Here, Mortensen demonstrates how to use an herbarium press. Before pressing a specimen, he places it inside a folded sheet of newspaper, trying to maintain its natural form. Next, he places a sheet of blotting paper over the newspaper, followed by a sheet of sturdy corrugated cardboard. He continues this procedure layer after layer until the press is full, then tightens the press, and places it in a warm dry place for about 48 hours.
