Eight Penn State teams have received a Public Recognition Award from the NCAA for earning high scores in the most recent Academic Progress Rate (APR) compilation. All eight teams earned APR scores in the top 10 percent nationally for their respective sport during the 2012-13 academic year.

Musgrove, Salig earn Big Ten Postgraduate Scholarships
The Big Ten Conference office announced its 2013-14 postgraduate scholarship winners on Thursday with women's gymnast Lindsay Musgrove (League City, Texas) and men's swimmer Matt Salig (Downingtown, Pa.) named the recipients from Penn State.

LED Nittany Lion logo placed on new Beaver Stadium north videoboard
Another portion of the Beaver Stadium videoboard project was completed Thursday, as a gigantic, 35-feet by 25-feet back lit Nittany Lion logo was secured on the north side of Beaver Stadium.

Penn State's Homecoming clash with Northwestern is set for a noon kick Sept. 27 in Beaver Stadium, the Nittany Lions' fifth announced start time for the 2014 season.

Robinson, Jones, Urschel selected in NFL Draft
Three Penn State Nittany Lions were selected in the 2014 National Football League Draft. The Jacksonville Jaguars selected first-team All-America wide receiver Allen Robinson (Southfield, Mich.) with the overall 61st pick on May 9 in the second round, the Tennessee Titans selected defensive tackle DaQuan Jones (Johnson City, N.Y.) with the overall 112th pick May 10 in the fourth round and the Baltimore Ravens tabbed guard John Urschel (Williamsville, N.Y.) with the overall 175th pick May 10 in the fifth round.

Carson, Gilliam sign NFL rookie free agent contracts
Former Penn State linebacker Glenn Carson (Manahawkin, N.J.) and offensive tackle Garry Gilliam (Hershey) have signed rookie free agent contracts with National Football League teams from the NFC West. They are the first two of several Nittany Lions expected to officially sign NFL rookie free agent contracts.

Baseball welcomes Spartans for regular season finale
Penn State baseball returns to Happy Valley to host Michigan State in the regular season finale for a three-game series. The two sides will play a doubleheader on Friday with the first game starting at 3 p.m. before the regular season finale on Saturday at noon. The final game of the regular season will be followed by Senior Day festivities.

Coleman returns as Lady Lion assistant coach
Penn State Lady Lion head coach Coquese Washington announced on Wednesday the addition of Itoro Coleman to the Lady Lion coaching staff as an assistant coach. This will be Coleman's second stint with Penn State having served as an assist from 2007-10 before becoming the head coach at her alma mater, Clemson.
