A record 387 awards were presented to Penn State student-athletes Tuesday night at the 27th annual SAAB Academic Achievement Awards Banquet at the Bryce Jordan Center. The figure topped last year's then record total of 356 awards.

Penn State Blue squad topples White 37-0 in 
front of 72,000
Spring arrived in Happy Valley in full force April 12 for the annual Penn State Blue-White Game presented by AAA, as an estimated 72,000 fans watched the Blue squad defeat the White squad, 37-0, inside a sun-drenched Beaver Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Penn State's Urschel wins 84th AAU Sullivan Award
John Urschel (Williamsville, N.Y.), the Penn State All-American guard who claimed the 2013 William V. Campbell Trophy from the National Football Foundation (NFF) as college football's premier scholar-athlete, has been named the recipient of the 84th James E. Sullivan Award, presented by the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) to America's top amateur athlete.

Basketball adds Devin Foster for 2014-15 season
Devin Foster has signed a national letter of intent to join the Penn State men's basketball team beginning with the 2014-15 season, Patrick Chambers, who enters his fourth season as head coach of the Nittany Lions, announced Wednesday. The Vincennes University junior college product has two years of eligibility remaining.

Assistant football coaches to join Franklin on Coaches Caravan
Building on his mission to "Dominate The State," Penn State football coach James Franklin is scheduled to be joined by nine head coaches and all nine assistant football coaches during the Penn State Coaches Caravan tour in May. Thirteen of the 17 events will take place in Pennsylvania, including five on Penn State campuses, with additional stops in Baltimore, New Jersey, New York City and Washington, D.C.

Maggie Lucas selected 21st in WNBA Draft
Penn State Lady Lion senior guard Maggie Lucas (Narberth, Pa.) was selected by the Phoenix Mercury with the 21st overall pick in the 2014 WNBA Draft presented by State Farm. Lucas' selection gives the Lady Lions three WNBA Draft picks in the last two years, joining Alex Bentley and Nikki Greene, who were selected in the 2013 WNBA Draft. Penn State has now had 15 players drafted by WNBA teams since 1997, the most in the Big Ten Conference.

Men's volleyball clinches 30th regular season EIVA title
The No. 12 Penn State men's volleyball team (20-16, 11-1) pushed past Saint Francis (10-14, 5-7) in four sets (25-19, 23-25, 25-15, 25-17) Saturday afternoon to clinch its 30th EIVA/ECVL regular season title in program history.

Evening session awaits No. 15 women's gymnastics at NCAA Championships
When the Penn State women's gymnastics team arrives at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex it will mark the Nittany Lions' 17th overall appearance in school history and the first since 2009 at the NCAA Championships. The 17 championship advents rank the Nittany Lions 10th in NCAA history and are third among Big Ten institutions.

Baseball hosts Illini in weekend clash
The Penn State baseball team hosts Illinois in a matchup of the Big Ten's number three and four teams in the standings entering the weekend. The series will begin with a game on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. followed by a 2 p.m. start on Saturday for game two. The three-game set will wrap up on Easter with the series finale starting at noon on Sunday. The Penn State baseball program has a number of special events this weekend to go along with the three games. Friday evening's game marks Military and Local Wounded Warrior Appreciation Night.

Penn State softball returns to Big Ten action this weekend, hosting Wisconsin for a three-game series. The Nittany Lions enter the weekend at No. 8 in the conference standings while the Badgers hold the No. 5 spot.

No. 12/16 women's lacrosse hosts No. 7/5 John Hopkins Friday
The No. 12/16 Penn State women's lacrosse team (8-6, 2-3 ALC) will play its final ALC regular-season game when it hosts No. 7/5 Johns Hopkins (12-2, 2-2 ALC) for a national-televised contest on BTN Friday, April 18. Opening draw at the Penn State Lacrosse Field is set for 6 p.m.

Men's lacrosse hosts Delaware Saturday
The Nittany Lion men's lacrosse team will host Delaware for a Saturday afternoon tilt at Penn State Lacrosse Field. The 25th edition of the Penn State-Delaware rivalry will feature Lacrosse for Literacy, a student-athlete run initiative for a book donation to a local library. Fans are encouraged to bring books tailored to children in grades 2-6 for donation at the game.

No. 22 men's tennis hosts Nebraska, Iowa to close out regular season
The No. 22 Penn State men's tennis team concludes the regular season this weekend as they welcome No. 63 Nebraska and Iowa to Happy Valley. The Nittany Lions will face the Huskers on Friday at 3 p.m. and the Hawkeyes at Noon on Sunday. Both matches will be played outside at Sarni Tennis Center.

Walseth named North Dakota State head coach
Penn State Lady Lion assistant coach Maren Walseth has been named the head coach of the North Dakota State women's basketball program. Walseth, who played at Penn State from 1998-01, has been an assistant coach on Coquese Washington's staff for the past seven seasons.

Men's gymnastics trio earns All-America honors
A trio of Penn State gymnasts featuring junior Craig Hernandez (Libertyville, Ill.), sophomore Trevor Howard (Columbus, Ohio) and Alexis Torres (Catano, Puerto Rico) recorded three top eight finishes in the individual finals to All-America honors in the 2014 NCAA National Championships Saturday evening at Crisler Arena.

The Musselman's Apple Sauce Family Skating Tribute returns Oct. 19 to Penn State's Pegula Ice Arena. The family-themed show features music from Amy Grant performances by numerous figure skating Olympic medalists and world champions, including Nancy Kerrigan, Paul Wylie, and Ekaterina Gordeeva.
