Taylor wins Hodge Trophy as nation's top wrestler
Penn State Nittany Lion wrestler David Taylor (St. Paris, Ohio), firmly established as one of collegiate wrestling's all-time greats, has been named the 2014 Dan Hodge Trophy Winner, collegiate wrestling's Heisman Trophy. Taylor, who recently capped off a stellar collegiate career with an unbeaten season and his second NCAA individual title, won the award for the second time.

Urschel selected as finalist for AAU Sullivan Award
John Urschel (Williamsville, N.Y.), the Penn State All-American guard who claimed the 2013 William V. Campbell Trophy from the National Football Foundation (NFF) as college football's premier scholar-athlete, has been named one of three finalists for the 84th Sullivan Award, presented by the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) to America's top amateur athlete.

Howard wins rings title, Penn State third at Big Ten Gymnastics Championships
Sophomore Trevor Howard (Columbus, Ohio) headlined the group of Nittany Lion competitors in the individual finals of the 2014 Big Ten Championships with his first conference title of his career on the still rings Saturday evening at the Bob Devaney Center in Lincoln, Neb. On Friday night, the Nittany Lions took a third place team finish.

Lucas selected USBWA All-American for second consecutive year
Lady Lion senior guard Maggie Lucas (Narberth, Pa.) collected USBWA All-America honors for the second-straight season. She is just the second Lady Lion to earn multiple USBWA All-America accolades, joining Kelly Mazzante, who was a three-time honoree.

Lucas named to AP All-America third team
Lady Lion senior guard Maggie Lucas (Narberth, Pa.) claimed a spot on the Associated Press (AP) All-America third team. This is the third AP honor for Lucas, who was a second team choice last season and honorable mention selection as a sophomore. She is the fourth Lady Lion to earn three AP All-America honors, joining Kelly Mazzante, Angie Potthoff and Tanisha Wright.

Field set for NCAA women's gymnastics regional at Rec Hall
The NCAA announced on Monday (March 24) the participants for the 2014 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Regional Championships and the Penn State women's gymnastics team found out the other five teams they will host on April 5 at Rec Hall.

No. 10 women's lacrosse hosts No. 6 Northwestern
Penn State and Northwestern will renew their ALC rivalry when the Nittany Lions welcome the Wildcats to the Penn State Lacrosse Field on Friday, April 4 at 7 p.m. This is the 11th consecutive season these two teams have met, with Penn State's last win coming in Evanston on April 19, 2003.

Softball treks to west for Big Ten road series at Michigan State
Penn State softball hits the road this weekend for its first Big Ten away series of the year, traveling to East Lansing, Mich. to take on the Michigan State Spartans in a three-game bout. The Nittany Lions look to gain their first conference win of the season and second consecutive victory after defeating Saint Francis (Pa.) on Wednesday evening.

Stakhovsky wins third Big Ten Men's Tennis Player of the Week
No. 24 Penn State men's tennis sophomore Leonard Stakhovsky (Kiev, Ukraine) has been named Big Ten Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. Stakhovsky has won the award three times this spring.

Women's tennis meets Wisconsin on Friday, Minnesota on Sunday
Penn State women's tennis (4-13, 0-5 Big Ten) begins their final homestand when Wisconsin (7-6, 3-2 Big Ten) and Minnesota (14-4, 4-1 Big Ten) visit Happy Valley this weekend. The Nittany Lions host Wisconsin on Friday at 4 p.m. and Minnesota at 11 a.m. on Sunday. The matches will be played outdoors at the Sarni Tennis Center if weather permits.

Hernandez to be inducted into EIVA Hall of Fame
The Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) has announced its third Hall of Fame Class, which is highlighted by former Nittany Lion Ramon Hernandez. Hernandez and two others will be honored at the 2014 EIVA Championship match April 26th at the site of the highest seeded team.

Jack Sherry, 1954 Final Four team captain, passes away
Jack Sherry, a two-sport athlete at Penn State and captain of the 1954 Nittany Lion men's basketball team that reached the Final Four, died Monday in a Philadelphia area hospital. He was 81.
