Deja McClendon and David Taylor named Penn State Athletes of the Year

With the 2013-14 athletic season concluded, Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics has named wrestler David Taylor (St. Paris, Ohio) and women’s volleyball player Deja McClendon (Louisville, Ky.) as its Male and Female Athletes of the Year. McClendon and Taylor will be on the ballot for Big Ten Athletes of the Year. The honors are the latest in a long list of accolades for both student-athletes.  Full story

Alumnus and longtime donor supports football, theatre with $2 million gift

Penn State alumnus and longtime donor John Leone has committed to give Penn State $2 million for Intercollegiate Athletics and the College of Arts and Architecture. The gift will provide $1.5 million to name the John and Willie Leone Family Strength and Conditioning Center in the Lasch Football Building as part of the Football Excellence Fund and $500,000 to increase the Willie Leone Endowed Scholarship Fund in Music Theatre.  Full story

Trio of Nittany Lions to be inducted into U.S. Field Hockey Hall of Fame

A trio of former Penn State field hockey student-athletes will be among those inducted into the U.S. Field Hockey Hall of Fame as the 1984 Olympic Team is inducted on Saturday (June 21). Current Penn State head coach Charlene Morett, Chris Larson and Brenda Stauffer were all members of the 1984 Olympic Team that earned the bronze medal in the 1984 Olympic Games held in Los Angeles.  Full story

Lady Lions to open Preseason WNIT against Towson

The three-time defending Big Ten Champion Penn State Lady Lions will open the 2014-15 season by hosting Towson at the Bryce Jordan Center in the first round of the Preseason WNIT. Penn State and the Tigers will square off on Friday, Nov. 14 at noon for a "School Day" special. The Lady Lions will be working with local school districts to provide an educational experience for students in attendance.  Full story

Lady Lions add Jocelyn Wyatt to staff

Lady Lion head coach Coquese Washington has announced the addition of Jocelyn Wyatt as an assistant coach to complete the Penn State women's basketball coaching staff. Wyatt comes to the Lady Lions after serving four seasons as an assistant at Georgia State.  Full story

Brandywine edges other campuses to claim its first PSUAC Chancellor Cup

A successful year for Penn State Brandywine sports wrapped up with yet another major accomplishment. For the first time in campus history, Brandywine won the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) Chancellor Cup. The cup is awarded to the Commonwealth Campus that displays the best overall performance across all 11 sports.  Full story

Abington athletics wins President's Cup

Penn State Abington captured the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) President’s Cup, which is awarded to the top overall program in the 12-member conference. The 13 Abington teams finished the year with a combined .703 winning percentage.  Full story
