The central theme for the Children’s Garden at the H. O. Smith Botanic Gardens in The Penn State Arboretum is based on central Pennsylvania’s geomorphology and its particular flora, fauna and culture. Ridges and valleys, including Mount Nittany, can be seen from the garden. Helping children and adults understand the connection between the subterranean world and the surface habitat it supports is the primary focus of the story of the Children’s Garden.
