The Penn State football coaching staff welcomed hundreds of high school coaches to campus Friday and Saturday (April 3-4) for the annual Coaches Clinic. Here attendees in Holuba Hall watch as linebackers coach Ron Vanderlinden breaks down game film.

Quarterbacks coach Jay Paterno talked about the "Spread HD" offense Penn State used in 2008 and offered notes on the overhead projector. Penn State's annual spring gathering of coaches traditionally draws more than 800 high school and youth league coaches from all parts of the country and beyond the United States border.

The clinic also will include a presentation by Penn State's strength and conditioning staff. A special session on speed and movement with the Nittany Lions' speed coach also will be offered as part of the program agenda, in addition to a session devoted to special teams.

Hundreds of coaches paid close attention as defensive coordinator Tom Bradley discussed strategy and mechanics. The coaches will attend dinner and a social at Beaver Stadium and meet with head coach Joe Paterno Friday night.

Tom Bradley and the other Penn State coaches will offer further detailed breakdowns throughout Friday and Saturday. Live drills will precede Saturday's scrimmage. Penn State also will host five different camp opportunities on the University Park campus in June during its 35th annual summer football camps. Close to 3,000 high school players from across the nation annually attend the camps.
