To help celebrate Homecoming and its 2008 theme, "Inspired by Tradition," the S-Zone displayed Penn State's original colors, pink and black.

The Alumni Band strutted onto the field of Beaver Stadium to start the pregame festivities. Hundreds of Blue Band alumni from across the United States return to carry on the Alumni Band's traditions during the Homecoming parade and football game.

Two U.S. Navy F-18C Hornets performed a flyover following the singing of the National Anthem. The jet on the left was flown by Penn State Navy ROTC 2001 graduate Lt. Rob Littman, while the jet on the right was piloted by Lt. Chris Dentzer. Lt. E.P. Hadler, their handler, directed them from the ground.

The Penn State Blue Band took to the field and honored its opposing team by playing the University of Michigan's fight song while its blue-and-yellow flag was waved in the background.

At halftime, the scoreboard welcomed alumni as the Penn State Blue Band and Alumni Band took to the field for their traditional Homecoming marching performances.

Penn State Alumni Association’s annual snapshot of membership numbers showed a 2.4 percent growth, increasing to 169,209.

Following the ALUMS formation, the Alumni Band split down the middle and headed to either end of the field, forming white letters L, I and S. They made way for the Blue Band, which rejoined the field to fill out the O-N in LIONS -- yet another Homecoming tradition.

Less than 24 hours after their coronation at the Friday night pep rally, Anthony Estes and Elizabeth Kernion, 2008 Homecoming King and Queen, were introduced to the 110,017 people in attendance at the game.

By the fourth quarter, Navy handler Lt. E.P. Hadler and pilots Lt. Rob Littman, a 2001 Penn State Navy ROTC graduate, and Lt. Chris Dentzer returned to Beaver Stadium to enjoy the celebratory atmosphere along the sidelines, before being introduced to the crowd. Following their 46-17 win against the Wolverines, several of the Nittany Lions ran over to the student section to celebrate with them and thank them for their support.
