Illinois Game 1
The student whiteout for Penn State's football game vs. Illinois on Oct. 29 got some help from the weather, which provided enough of the white stuff to enable fans to build this snowman in the endzone seating area just above the south endzone tunnel.
Illinois Game 2
Nittany Lion safety Drew Astorino upended Illinois wide receiver A.J. Jenkins during first quarter action at Beaver Stadium on Oct. 29. The Nittany Lions beat the Illini 10-7 in a game dominated by defense.
Illinois Game 3
Illinois running back Troy Pollard was wrapped up for a loss by Nittany Lion linebacker Glenn Carson during first-half action at a snowy Beaver Stadium on Oct. 29. The Nittany Lions rallied late and held on for a 10-7 victory and remain undefeated in Big Ten play.
Illinois Game 4
The Penn State cheerleaders got into the Halloween spirit during the second half at Beaver Stadium on Oct. 29. The Nittany Lion football team hosted Illinois on an unseasonably cold and snowy day. Penn State remained undefeated in Big Ten play with a 10-7 victory.
Illinois Game 5
Penn State running back Silas Redd ran for 9 of his 139 rushing yards against Illinois at Beaver Stadium on Oct. 29. Redd scored later in the same drive to give Penn State a 10-7 lead late in the fourth quarter.
Illinois Game 6
Illinois cornerback Justin Green (#26) interferes with Penn State wide receiver Derek Moye (#6) as he attempts to catch a pass late in the fourth quarter, with Penn State trailing 7-3. Penn State eventually scored what turned out to be the winning touchdown on the drive.
Illinois Game 7
On second down and goal from the Illini 3-yard line, Silas Redd surged forward in a crowd and crossed the goal line for the Nittany Lions' first and only touchdown of the day, to put Penn State on top 10-7 with 1:08 left on the game clock. Penn State won the game at Beaver Stadium, to give Joe Paterno his 409th win to make him the winningest Division I coach ever, surpassing Grambling's Eddie Robinson.
Illinois Game 8
With just five seconds left on the game clock, Illinois set up to try a 42-yard field goal that would have tied the game vs. Penn State and send the Oct. 29 contest into overtime. Both Illinois and Penn State took timeouts before the kick attempt, and Penn State fans in the student section took advantage of the delay in the action to rush toward the end zone. With most of the students crowded into the area behind the goalposts, yelling and waving, Illini kicker Derek Dimke made his attempt ... and missed, giving the Nittany Lions a 10-7 victory.
Illinois Game 9
Illinois placekicker Derek Dimke attempted a 42-yard field goal with no time left on the clock in the fourth quarter at Beaver Stadium on Oct. 29. The kick hit the right upright, preserving Penn State's 10-7 victory.
Illinois Game 10
Nittany Lion running back Silas Redd celebrated the Penn State victory over Illinois at Beaver Stadium on Oct. 29 with fans in the student section. Redd led the Penn State offense with 139 yards on 30 carries and scored the game-winning touchdown.
Illinois Game 11
Penn State quarterback Matt McGloin rings the victory bell after Penn State's 10-7 win over Illinois on Saturday, Oct. 29. The win gave Penn State Coach Joe Paterno 409 wins in his career, making him the winningest coach in Diviion I history.
