The Nittany Lion mascot braved significant rainfall in Happy Valley on Wednesday, July 29, to make a surprise appearance on campus, seen here near the HUB-Robeson Center, in order to greet prospective student applicants and their families during Spend a Summer Day on Wednesday, July 29. The day of programs was one of six such sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of the weeks of July 26 and Aug. 2 at University Park, all of which were available to any high school student interested in applying to or attending Penn State. Representatives from every college on campus were on hand during the day-long events to provide information, lead facilities and campus tours, and answer questions.

Lion Walk 2012-002
The Nittany Lion led the way for a group that included Penn State President Rodney Erickson, State College Mayor Elizabeth Goreham and State College Police Chief Tom King during the fifth annual LION (Living In One Neighborhood) Walk on Aug. 27 in downtown State College. The group was visiting Penn State students residing in homes in the borough to welcome them with gift bags and promote a sense of neighborhood between students and their borough neighbors.
Be a Part 2012-011
The Nittany Lion led the Penn State Glee Club in a rendition of 'Hail to the Lion' on Aug. 26 during 'Be a Part from the Start'. The annual event, held at Rec Hall on the University Park campus, welcomes freshman with music, cheers, dancing and special guests.
Navy Game 012
The Nittany Lion and Penn State cheerleaders joined coach Bill O'Brien and the football team in singing the Penn State Alma Mater following Penn State's 34-7 win over Navy at Beaver Stadium on Sept. 15. The Nittany Lions will host Temple on Saturday, Sept. 22.
Temple Game 013
The Penn State Nittany Lion visited the student section on Sept. 22 during the second half of Penn State's game vs. Temple at Beaver Stadium. Penn State defeated the Owls 24-13.
Pegula Ice Arena Groundbreaking 6
Penn State President Rodney Erickson, center, joined the Pegula family and others in the ceremonial groundbreaking on April 20 for the Pegula Ice Arena on the University Park campus. The 6,000 seat arena will be home to Penn State's NCAA Division I men's and women's hockey programs and is scheduled to open in 2013. To view the full-size photo, click on the image above.
Northwestern Game 002
The Penn State Nittany Lion welcomed a homecoming crowd to Beaver Stadium on Oct. 6 prior to Penn State's first Big Ten game of the season vs. Northwestern. Penn State defeated the Wildcats 39 to 28 for their fourth victory of the 2012 season.

THON 2012- Sun PM 9
The Nittany Lion danced with the band Go Go Gadget at the Penn State Dance Marathon on Feb. 19. The three-day THON included more than 700 dancers and raised more than $10.6 million for the Four Diamonds Fund.

The Nittany Lion mascot got a lift from the dancers on Feb. 19 during the final hours of the 2012 Penn State Dance Marathon.
Lady Lions Big10 Champs-004
The Nittany Lion mascot showed some muscle during the Penn State Lady Lions victory over Ohio State on Feb. 20 at the Bryce Jordan Center. The Lady Lions clinched the Big Ten regular season title with an 84-66 victory over the Buckeyes.

Rally in the Valley 5
The Nittany Lion did his signature one-armed push-ups during Rally in the Valley, held Friday night, Sept. 9, in Rec Hall on Penn State's University Park campus. The roughly 6,000 fans in attendance at the pep rally are hoping the Lion does many more push-ups during the game against Alabama on Saturday, since the Lion does push-ups when Penn State scores.

THON 2011-054
The cheerleaders, featuring the Nittany Lion, were the last ones to compete in the THON 2011 pep rally, held Saturday, Feb. 19.

To honor the dancers, the NIttany Lion did 46 one-armed push-ups at the conclusion of the competitive portion of the THON 2011 pep rally, while the finalists were being determined.
