Eric Levi got behind the wheel of Penn State's Shell Eco-marathon vehicle Dec. 13 at the as senior engineering students showcased their work at the Bryce Jordan Center at University Park. Levi's team improved the fuel efficiency of the vehicle through reduced friction and weight reducation. The students will compete in the Shell Eco-marathon Americas competition in April on the streets of Houston.

Renata Engel, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies and International Programs in Penn State's College of Engineering, received some 'hands-on' experience with an Automatic Folding and Unfolding Clothes Drying Rack designed and displayed by students at the 2012 Penn State Engineering Student Design Showcase at the Bryce Jordan Center on Dec. 13. The rack was designed to fold and unfold with the push of a button and was designed to be accessible on all sides from a wheelchair.

Andrew Redding, a Penn State senior majoring in electrical engineering, discussed the design and objectives of 'RoboSnow,' a senior design project displayed at the 2012 Penn State Engineering Student Design Showcase on Dec. 13 at the Bryce Jordan Center. 'RoboSnow' is an automated system that drives a snowmobile remotely using GPS way-points and is designed to support researchers who use radar equipment to map glacier depths.

A fan driven volcanic lake sampling vehicle was one of many design projects on display on Dec. 13 at the 2012 Penn State Engineering Student Design Showcase at the Bryce Jordan Center. Students from Penn State's senior capstone design courses displayed their solutions to real-world engineering problems and challenges.

Senior biological engineering student Jon Morgan explained his production teams baobab fruit processing machine with a guest at the 2012 Engineering Student Design Showcase held Dec. 13 at the Bryce Jordan Center. The processing machine is designed to separate fiber powder from the seed of the baobab fruit, a strong source of vitamin C. This prototype is scheduled to be used in Africa in the future.

At the Engineering Design Showcase, electrical engineering major Dan Severns demonstrated a pneumatic tubing system designed as an interactive exhibit for the Discovery Space of Central Pennsylvania, a museum dedicated to introducing elementary school students to science. The event was held Dec. 13 in the Bryce Jordan Center at University Park.
