Penn State President Graham B. Spanier shows off a hockey jersey during the Board of Trustees meeting, just before the announcement of the largest private gift in the University's history -- $88 million from Terrence M. and Kim Pegula to fund a state-of-the-art, multi-purpose arena and help to establish an NCAA Division I men's hockey program. A press conference held after the Board of Trustees meeting on Friday, Sept. 17, featured a display of the proposed layout and location of the new state-of-the-art, multi-purpose arena made possible by the $88 million gift by Terrence M. and Kim Pegula.

Terrence M. Pegula spoke at the press conference announcing the $88 million gift from him and his wife, Kim. The Pegulas' gift will launch the construction of a new arena at University Park that will be the only major rink within an 80-mile radius and on par with the best collegiate facilities in the country.

After the press conference, members of the news media interviewed Terrence M. Pegula, a 1973 Penn State graduate and a leader in the oil and natural gas industry, who said, "We want to share our success with the people of Pennsylvania and with the very institution that helped me obtain the tools to launch my career in the oil and natural gas industry."
