Rick Bates is a professor of horticulture at Penn State with expertise in the profitability and competitiveness of the nursery and Christmas tree industry in Pennsylvania. Other areas of expertise include informational seed systems in Southeast Asia; temperate zone woody plants; and extension and advisory systems for developing countries.
