Larson Pennsylvania Transportation Institute's Center for Dirt and Gravel Road Studies at Penn State was selected by the Pennsylvania Association of Environmental Professionals (PAEP) to receive the 2013 Karl Mason Environmental Stewardship Award. Penn State professor finding new ways to repair nerve injuries

Nerve injury is a major health problem, with 12,000 new injuries occurring in the U.S. each year. Recovery can be difficult or impossible, which is why Dr. Mohammad Reza Abidian—a Penn State assistant professor of bioengineering, materials science and engineering—is focusing his research on special materials called “conducting polymers,” which could one day offer a solution to these injuries.
